  • If you wish to take part in the sunflower competition, pick up a pack of seeds and register your entry
  • The agenda kicks off at 10:30am, as outlined below:

Sunflower competition

Take part in a friendly competition to see who can grow the tallest sunflower and who can grow the sunflower with the biggest bloom!

There will also be a junior category for under 18s.

Collect a pack of free sunflower seeds from the AGM and register your entry. If you can’t make it to the AGM, register by emailing the Committee Secretary before Wednesday 1 April.

The committee will judge entries on Saturday 29 August and the winner will be announced on Saturday 5 September.

Coffee mornings

Join us near the communal shed from 10:00 to 12:00 for a chat over tea and coffee. This is a chance to socialise with other members and the committee.

  • Saturday 25 April
  • Saturday 16 May
  • Saturday 6 June
  • Saturday 4 July
  • Saturday 1 August
  • Saturday 5 September

Working parties

A few times a year the committee organises get togethers to tend to vacant plots and the communal areas. Typical activities include mowing, weeding and shed maintenance, all in good company with tea and coffee provided.

We invite members to join us and help in whatever way they can. It’s a great way to meet one another, trade tips and give back to our growing community.

  • Saturday 28 February
  • Saturday 28 May
  • Saturday 10 October

More details will be shared via email and the WhatsApp community nearer the time.

Plot inspections

Dates will be added after the AGM once the new committee is in place.

Open day

On Saturday 28 June (TBC), we’ll invite members of the local community to visit the allotment. This is an opportunity for people who are interested in getting a plot to find out more. More details will be announced nearer the time.

Summer barbecue

Join us in the communal area from 12pm to 3pm on Sunday 18 July for the annual barbecue. We’ll provide the barbecue and some tables and chairs. Bring food, drink, cutlery, plates and picnic blankets.

Compost delivery

The annual compost delivery will take place over the weekend of Friday 23 to Sunday 25 October. Details will be shared nearer the time.

A few pointers for new members:

  • The type and cost of compost will be shared via email and WhatsApp community nearer the time.
  • You pay per barrow in advance of the delivery.
  • Compost is typically delivered to a parking bay by Benian’s Pavilion.
  • Use communal wheelbarrows to transport your compost to your plot.
  • If you’d like to place an order but you’re unavailable the weekend of delivery, it’s worth seeing if any of your plot neighbours are happy to help. If you’re stuck, let the Committee know and we’ll do what we can to help too.
